Survey Report: Impact of COVID-19 in Taiwan - June 2021

Taiwanese people's sentiment towards the macro environment of the upcoming year has drastically worsen since the sudden surge of COVID-19 cases and nationwide level 3 alert in mid May.

Key findings

    • Comparing with May data, where less than 30% are willing to get vaccine, the intent is 3 times higher in June, surging from 17% to 55%.

    • Half of the netizens have changed the way they work. 45% have done online shopping more frequently, while 55% are buying necessities in bulk in one go.

Recommendations

  • Since people are changing their grocery shopping habits, retailers should re-consider their sales channels in addition to customer demand and increase their inventory/supply for online shopping.

  • While people have changed the way they work, WFH might become the new normal. Businesses should make adjustment to their marketing strategies and sales channels accordingly.
